1951 – Albion Musicians Sweep the Board at Tadley

1951

In March 1951, musicians from the Southampton Albion Silver Band enjoyed an outstanding day of success at competitions held at Tadley.

A Septet representing the Band won first prize, while the Trombone Quartet also won its section.

Individual honours followed, with Bram Taylor winning the Senior Solo Medal and Alec Wotton winning the Junior Solo Medal.

Bill Barnes remembered the occasion as one of the Band’s “sweep-the-board” days and an excellent example of the strength of Albion’s musicians beyond full-band competitions.
