1966 – Albion Wins the Wessex March Cup

1966

In December 1966, the Southampton Albion Silver Band enjoyed further contest success when it convincingly won the March Cup at the Wessex Contest.

The Band was now under the direction of Mr Courtney Bosanko, following its major Second Section Area Championship success the previous year.

Although Albion secured the March Cup, the coveted Championship of Wessex once again eluded the Band — a title it had not won since its outstanding success in 1936.

Nevertheless, the result demonstrated that Albion remained a strong competitive Band during this successful period of the 1960s.
