On the 12th June the band returned to Winchester Cathedral to play for the annual Master Mariner’s Thanksgiving Service. The band played a few pieces before the service and then accompanied each of the hymns in conjunction with the organ. Whilst there were inevitably less people there than last year with the attendance of HRH the Princess Royal, the cathedral was still almost full.
The fine weather meant that for the first time in 3 years everybody was able to move out to the Dean’s garden after the service for some refreshments. The band played a short set for the pleasure of the guests which mainly consisted of nautical themed pieces.
