The band had a change of venue for this year’s Christmas concert. We used the excellent facilities at Thornden School for our performance. The first half of the concert consisted of pieces from our normal repertoire of music featuring music from Mary Poppins, the horn solo Demelza and the overture from Nabucco. The second half was made up entirely of Xmas music including a version of Silent Night incorporating Pipes of Peace arranged especially for the band to commemorate the centenary of the First World War when the soldiers came out of their trenches on Christmas Day to play football. Other favorites included White Christmas, Sleigh Ride, Last Christmas and a Christmas Festival.
