Change of Venue for Christmas Concert

After many years of holding our Christmas Concert at the Point in Eastleigh the band changed the venue this year to the Holy Saviour Church in Bitterne on Saturday 15th December. The concert was split into two different halves of music. The first half contained a wide range of pieces from the band’s repetoire and the second half consisted entirely of Christmas music. The band took on one or two more ambitious pieces than it had attempted in previous years including Napoli (solo cornet played by David Cornford), The Festive Overture by Shostakovich and Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody. The second half included O Holy Night (euphonium played by Paul Dunning), John Rutter’s Christmas Lullaby and the concert ended with Leroy Anderson’s A Christmas Festival.

The band were well received by the audience who were very enthusiastic with their applause.
